Harren Group, a privately owned maritime and logistics company specializing in heavy lift shipping, project logistics, and offshore services, has selected UniSea Maindeck as its dry-docking management solution following a thorough evaluation process.
The company delivers complex transport solutions through a global network of 25 offices across 23 countries, supporting technically demanding cargo operations in both conventional energy and renewable sectors. With 2,000 seafarers and 465 office staff, Harren Group required a solution capable of supporting both shipboard operations and shore-based coordination.
Evaluation process identifies key functionality requirements
The selection process involved testing several dry-docking software solutions available in the market. Harren Group's evaluation focused on identifying systems that could support both technical superintendents in their operational work and office teams requiring oversight and administrative structure.
"We have tested several dry-docking software solutions on the market, but Maindeck clearly stood out in terms of usability and how well it supports both our superintendents and office teams," said Jan-Hendrik Dammann, Fleet Manager at Harren Group.
Technical superintendent focus drives selection decision
The evaluation highlighted UniSea Maindeck's design approach, which prioritizes practical functionality for technical superintendents while maintaining necessary administrative capabilities. This dual focus distinguished the solution from alternatives that primarily serve as an administrative tool.
"Rather than serving solely as an administrative tool, Maindeck stands out as a practical, hands-on solution that also supports TSIs in their day-to-day work," Dammann explained.
Implementation support meets expectations
The fleet-wide deployment is currently underway, with Harren Group noting positive initial experiences with UniSea's implementation approach.
"We are currently rolling out the system to our managed fleet, and I must say I am impressed by UniSea's hands-on approach and quick response," said Dammann.
Industry partnership development
Kurt Roar Vilhelmsen, CEO of UniSea, welcomed the partnership:
"Harren Group's selection of Maindeck after such a thorough evaluation process demonstrates the solution's practical value for technical operations. Their focus on supporting both superintendents and office teams reflects exactly what we designed Maindeck to achieve – a tool that serves real operational needs rather than just administrative requirements."
